Similarly, for 2024, Chanel price increases seem inevitable. In conversation with the Financial Times, Chanel’s president Pavlovsky revealed that Chanel is preparing for a “tougher” year as luxury brands everywhere are experiencing downturns after the post-Covid boom. Yet he remained optimistic, calling the economic slowdowns “normal,” projecting confidence about 2024’s financial results. Later, as articulated to WWD, Pavlovsky stated: “We’re not chasing a market positioning, but we’re raising our prices to cover our costs. Most of our competitors have already increased their prices this year. We haven’t raised ours, so yes, there will be an increase fairly soon.”

These comments, articulated in late 2023 and early 2024, ring true, and Chanel price hikes have struck again. Limited supply of Lagerfeld-era bags

According to a report issued by Credit Suisse and Deloitte titled ‘Collectibles amid heightened uncertainty and inflation’ the scarcity of Karl Lagerfeld’s creations potentially boosted the 24.5% increase in annual returns for Chanel handbags in 2021.
