Your Summer 2025 Bag Trends Report
1. Pastel Dreams
2025’s softest power play? Pastels, reimagined. Think ballerina pinks, buttery yellows, cloud-like mint greens. Ferragamo’s Hug bag in blush pink led the balletcore charge — dreamy, delicate, and utterly covetable. At Chanel and Ulla Johnson, entire silhouettes were dipped in monochrome pastel tones, evoking a refined kind of escapism.
The ultimate it piece? Chanel’s debut of the 25 bag, swathed in the gentlest hues — powder pink and ice-mint — making it the season’s most-wanted icon for collectors and newcomers alike.
2. Fringes with Flair
Boho is back — with a luxury twist. Fringe detailing swept across the SS25 runways in unexpected places, lending movement and a touch of rebellion to classic silhouettes. Matthieu Blazy’s swan song at Bottega Veneta featured a fringed Sardine bag that felt like a kinetic sculpture in motion.
Fendi’s Peekaboo reappeared with sleek leather fringing, while Hermès dropped jaws with the new Mini Kelly Pampilles, adorned with delicate leather tassels. Not to be outdone, Gucci went full party-mode with glittering fringe accents.
3. Mesh, Sheer & Barely-There Bags
Transparency is in — literally. This season’s bags flirt with the idea of conceal and reveal, from see-through mesh to gauzy overlays. Victoria Beckham made waves with a sheer satin tote, revealing a second bag hidden within. Romantic, clever, and a little voyeuristic.
Chanel introduced a tiny black mesh purse that whispered more than it shouted, while Bottega Veneta’s cage shoppers and clear plastic “grocery bags” playfully reimagined the mundane as luxury. It’s about creating tension: what’s inside becomes part of the statement.
4. Espresso Brown
Move over, burgundy. Rich, roasted espresso hues are dominating 2025’s colour palette, bringing warmth and a nostalgic nod to early-2000s minimalism. Miu Miu’s East-West bag — with crisp white piping and a low-slung attitude — captures the Y2K revival with polish.
Hermès entered the ring with a new Derby-style bowling bag silhouette in deep coffee tones (yet to be officially named), offering timeless structure with contemporary relevance.
5. Charms & The Bag-on-Bag Obsession
Summer 2025 is all about playful layering — and bags are getting in on the fun. Bag charms are no longer an afterthought, but statement pieces in their own right. Miu Miu piled on charms like curated mood boards, while Chanel took the bag-on-bag trend to the next level, with mini pouches dangling from larger carriers.
Street style stars Snehal and Jyoti Babani took this trend to the extreme, stacking their HSS Kellys in delightful, off-kilter symmetry. And let’s not forget the rise of Labubu-mania. The Chinese plush toy monsters double as bag candy, and polarise the fashion elite.
6. Raffia Goes Supersized
Raffia is no longer reserved for the beach. This summer, it’s gone oversized, exaggerated — and surprisingly refined. Zimmermann delivered dramatic raffia totes that swung with carefree grandeur, while Michael Kors showcased giant clutches tucked nonchalantly under the arm.
Think volume, texture, and organic luxury. Whether dyed, braided, or sculpted, raffia is having a renaissance as both a functional staple and a fashion flex.
